It may be too late for the Marquette Golden Eagles to play their way into the NCAA Tournament, but avoiding a third consecutive late season swoon may at least quell some fans' offseason questions about the direction of the program.
Tuesday night, sophomore D.J. Carton scored 17 second half points after being held to just 3 in the first half, in leading the Golden Eagles (12-13, 7-11 Big East) past DePaul (4-13, 2-13), 77-71 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
In addition to Carton's 20, the Golden Eagles got key contributions from Koby McEwen and Dawson Garcia, who scored 12 points apiece.
With the victory, MU has now won three out of their last four games with just one regular season contest left to play, Saturday night against Xavier at Fiserv Forum.
