Do you own an iPhone or iPad?
Congratulations, you’re probably rich. Well, that’s according to research from the University of Chicago, which found that owning an iPhone is the most reliable indicator of whether someone is in a higher income bracket. Apparently, owning an iPhone gave researchers a 69 percent chance to correctly guess a person’s income bracket. “Across all years in our data, no individual brand is as predictive of being high-income as owning an Apple iPhone in 2016,” the economists wrote. Past indicators of household wealth included Land O' Lakes butter and Kikkoman soy sauce in 2004 and Grey Poupon mustard in 1992.
