The Milwaukee Bucks had been rumored to be looking to move up to the late first round or early second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. When they could not move up into the first, Milwaukee was able to obtain the 36th overall pick from the Orlando Magic. In return, the Bucks are sending a 2030 second round pick and cash considerations.

With that 36th overall pick, the Bucks selected Andre Jackson Jr. out of UConn. Jackson and the Huskies, of course, are coming off of a National Championship this season.

The 6’6″ Jackson certainly has the build of a NBA player. He was one of the Huskies’ most important players down the stretch of the NCAA Tournament run, which culminated in a title.

This past season, Jackson averaged 6.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. He has a definite upside on defense and is an above-average rebounding guard. However, he only shot 28.1% from three.

There is no question that Jackson Jr. has a ton of upside as a NBA prospect. However, it will likely be a season or two before he is ready for meaningful minutes.

That being said, new head coach Adrian Griffin is renowned for working with young players. If anyone can help him develop his game and improve his shot, it is him.
