Despite 37 points from Markus Howard, the Marquette Golden Eagles were unable to rally from a nine-point halftime deficit, falling to Myles Powell and Seton Hall 88-79 on Saturday at Fiserv Forum.
Powell led the Pirates with 28 points, while Sandro Mamukelashvili added 26 as Seton Hall extended its Big East lead to a game and a half on Creighton with two to play.
Marquette fell to 8-8 in the Big East, tied with Butler for fifth place.
Marquette will face last-place DePaul and second-to-last-place St. John's on the road to wrap up the regular season.
