Marquette went on the road and found a way to pick up a crucial quad-one win.
After Markus Howard went down with an injury, Koby McEwen and Sacar Anim carried Marquette to a double-overtime victory at Xavier on Wednesday night, 84-82.
Howard exited the game with 15 points, leaving it up to McEwen, Anim, and the rest of the Golden Eagles to pick the team up. McEwen had a number of clutch plays down the stretch, while Anim filled in some of the scoring void left by Howard's departure with a game-high 28 points as Marquette picked up the victory.
On a night where Marquette's shooting went cold, a relentless approach to getting to the basket and getting to the free throw line paid off as the Golden Eagles made as many free throws as Xavier attempted (25).
Next up for Marquette, they will play DePaul on Saturday at Fiserv Forum.
