Welcome to the show!

I've been hanging out at The Big 920 (and The Big 1070) for six months now, filling in on shows here and there and being a pretty regular contributor on "The Mike Heller Show," which airs from 3-6 p.m. in Milwaukee.

Today, my schedule is getting a little more structure.

"The Drew Olson Show, powered by OnMilwaukee.com" debuts at 1 p.m. I'm going to host two hours in Milwaukee every day, then continue to hang with Mike and Jon Arias from 3-5:15 p.m.

I'm taking over the time slot held by Mitch Nelles, who is going to focus on his duties in "Tie-land," which is what I call the sales department (people wear ties, get it?)

Mitch is a dear friend and folks who grew accustomed to his full-frontal, energetic approach to the midday slot should know that he'll be popping in on the new show -- and in other dayparts -- quite regularly. He's a big reason I came over to The Big 920 in the first place and we are going to make big things happen here.

I'm excited about this new show for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I want to have fun. I know dozens of people who would sacrifice a limb or a non-vital organ in order to host a daily radio show. I've done it for a few years now and I can tell you, it's pretty cool. But, like assembling something from IKEA, it's also a lot more difficult than it seems. You can turn off the microphones, but you can't shut down the part of your brain that thinks, "What am I going to talk about during the next show?" It makes for some absent-minded moments, when my wife and friends get to the end of a story and I was in my own little world, thinking of a show segment, and missed the entire point of what they were saying.

Creating content on a daily basis is tough. My friends at OnMilwaukee.com do it very well, and I'm glad to have them be a part of the show. I'll interview their experts on the air, do a little writing on their site and we will collaborate in ways that we haven't even envisioned yet.

Enough babbling here. I leave you with a simple request: tune in to the show and let me know what you think.  E-mail me at drew@TheBig920.com.
