We hear that more and more these days…
“STICK TO SPORTS”.
It’s a common mantra thrown around by angry politically-active trolls who don’t agree with an athlete/broadcaster/reporter, whose primary job is to be involved in the sports world.
Athlete A tweets against the president? “Stick to Sports”
Reporter B tweets that one party is in power over the other? “Stick to Sports”
Broadcaster C comments about something political, as a part of conversation during a game? “Stick to Sports”
You know what? It’s 2017. “Stick to Sports” doesn’t exist anymore. We live in a world with social media – Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and more.
Opinions are fruitful and rampant. And accessible. They aren’t going away.
So – this is your opportunity. If you want to unfollow any of these players, broadcasters, or reporters, go right ahead.
But if you want to be a part of the conversation – part of the solution – then by all means, lead the way.
What to stick to these days? How about kindness, humanity, understanding and the ability to listen? Try those, and then come back to sports.
Sports will still be here for you, I promise.
